Welcome to Wild Horse Crossing!
One hot July day in 2003, I flitted in the entrance to Wild Horse Crossing, the then new store across from the stately courthouse in Denton, Texas, when the door was opened by a hesitant yet curious shopper. I drifted in unseen. I am called the omniscient observer, a spirit, if you will, like the wind, not material but nonetheless here. As the saying goes, good friends are like angels, you don't have to see them to know they are there. Well, the moment the door opened I heard the strains of a vintage country tune, "Back in the Saddle Again," I believe it was. Then the aroma of rawhide and coffee wafted past and I knew at once enchantment was my destiny. I observed the owner as she moved about replacing a lamp with a charming candelabra. Now here, now there, arranging, rearranging and studying the effects. One could immediately tell that this was her forte. The decorator, owner, visionaire, marketeer in her element. With a gentle stroke, she smiled and moved a unique horsehair Navajo one-of-a-kind pottery piece to another shelf.
The walled prints are individual statements, uniquely framed and compelling. Branding irons, Indian arrows, books, bookends, western kitchen essentials and accessories. Furniture beyond compare. You can select your coordinating leather and fabrics for great room comfort and charm. Indian blankets, table runners, napkins, silverware, wine accoutrements its all here to behold and ponder. Jewelry, which is the touch needed to highlight an ensemble, is reminiscent of the Indian beadwork and artistry of yesteryear. Still, a longer look, flashing in the sunlight are studded belts and sparkling faux jewels. Oh, there's more, purses created with sterling silver conchos and western boot tops. Two-tone tooled leather mules. The artisans are selectively represented. Possum-belly worktable must be seen. Cowhide trimmed antique armoire, tables, vintage gate-leg and new harvest tables for feasts yet to come.
If you listen carefully, you too can hear the ancient Indian drum beats; the felicitous and haunting flute tones. All of this melds into the ambiance that is Wild Horse Crossing.
